Wales is home to one of the fastest-growing digital economies outside London, with financial and professional services playing a key role in the rise of a thriving fintech sector. Established employers such as Admiral sit alongside a new generation of innovative companies, as the industry continues to evolve through the adoption of emerging technologies. Supported by a strong talent pool, entrepreneurial universities and increasing investment, Wales has become one of the UK’s most active fintech ecosystems.
With hubs across Cardiff, Newport, Swansea and Wrexham, the sector employs around 40,000 people and contributes an estimated £8.5bn to the Welsh economy. A collaborative community of start-ups, investors and established organisations continues to drive innovation through accelerators, incubators and shared spaces. Backed by initiatives such as Fintech Wales, the region is well positioned to support the next wave of fintech growth and technological advancement, with CCR playing an active role in supporting and strengthening this ecosystem.

GoCompare is a comparison website that enables people to compare the costs and features of a wide variety of insurance policies, financial products and energy tariffs.
When it launched in 2006, it was the first comparison site to focus on displaying policy details rather than just listing prices, with the aim of helping people to make better-informed decisions when buying their insurance. It is this approach to comparing products that secured the company an invitation to join the British Insurance Brokers’ Association (BIBA) in 2008, and it is still the only comparison site to be a member of this organisation.
GoCompare has remained dedicated to helping people choose the most appropriate products rather than just the cheapest and works with Defaqto, the independent financial researcher, to integrate additional policy information into a number of its insurance comparison services. This allows people to compare up to an extra 30 features of cover.
